CURIOUS NEW VOICES IS

THE SUMMER INTENSIVE
Young artists aged 15-22 spend three weeks immersed in the world of playwriting. Working with master playwrights and mentors, they develop their own unique voice and collaborate with professionals to stage a festival of innovative new works.

THE NATIONAL COLLECTIVE
Partner theatres from across the country send their up-and-coming playwrights to Curious for a powerful one-week program, forming a web of next-generation playwrights. The week culminates in a festival of dynamic world premieres.

IN-SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Whether a one-day workshop or a year-long residency, we offer multiple opportunities for students to explore the art of self-expression through imagination, improvisation, and storytelling.

STUDENT MATINEES
Each Curious production offers the opportunity for student matinees at our venue. These plays ignite conversations that can be connected to curriculum and a wider social relevance. Curious also offers a portfolio of plays to be performed at your school with limited set-up for broader student conversation.

TEEN NIGHT
The first Friday of each Curious production’s run, teens come backstage for dinner in our rehearsal space and mingling with Artistic Company members. Then they head into the theatre to see the play and stick around after for the talkback. All for just $5.

CURIOUS NEW VOICES BELIEVES

Investing in young playwrights for an extended time cultivates an artistic home where young people return again and again on the journey to define themselves as emerging artists.

The experience of having plays workshopped and performed by professional actors and directors in front of a live audience is integral to every playwright’s growth.

Every young playwright should have the chance to participate, regardless of financial situation. We provide need-based scholarships to nearly two-thirds of our summer students each year.

WE ARE BUILDING THE NEXT GENERATION OF GREAT AMERICAN PLAYWRIGHTS.
