About Merle Chambers

Since her first protest as a student at UC Berkeley in the 1960s, Merle Chambers has spoken out for equality and justice. She has led a remarkable life punctuated by her devotion to philanthropy and assertion that a woman’s voice is vital to advancing our world. As one of few women CEOs in the male-dominated oil and gas industry, she advanced women’s leadership. Merle is dedicated to ensuring an inclusive society in which everyone has the opportunity to participate and prosper. She created women’s funds in four states where her oil business had significant operations and devotes considerable time to philanthropy as president and board chair of Chambers Family Fund.
