chavez-satya-bioSatya Chavez (La Cantante/Music Director in The Happiest Song Plays Last) is an actress, musician, teaching artist (CSF), and voice and acting coach, (Parlando School of Music) with a BFA in Theater Performance from The University of Colorado, Boulder. She is the 2014 national winner of The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival’s Irene Ryan Acting Competition and spent time acting with The Kennedy Center, as a part of their New Playwrights Workshops. Since 2014, she has worked in collaboration with The Colorado Shakespeare Festival, the Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence, and Safe 2 Tell to further their mission of preventing violence in schools through theater, education, and engagement. In working with these organizations she appeared in The Taming of the Shrew (Lucentio/Baptista), Twelfth Night (Viola/Feste), and Much Ado About Nothing (Hero/Don Jon/Friar Francis). Satya’s additional credits include; The Colorado Shakespeare Festival’s production of Othello (Bianca), The Aurora Fox’s production of Black Elk Speaks (Yellow Woman) and Arabian Nights (Sympathy The Learned), a regional tour of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Marcy Park), Footloose with BDT Stage (Rusty), The Ghost of Lote Bravo and In The Belly of the Whale with The Kennedy Center (Juanda/Caliope). She is honored to be making her debut with Curious Theatre in this final piece of a powerful series.
